Custom 1600 mm Decorative Impeller

Custom Ø1600 mm class decorative impeller built to a customer sculpture design for an architectural and landscape installation. It runs at only tens of revolutions per minute, so the design priority is shape fidelity and long-term outdoor weather resistance rather than aerodynamic efficiency.

Structure and materials

• Load-bearing frame: welded Q235 steel keel
• Skin: hand-laid GRP over the frame, automotive-grade topcoat to the customer colour card
• Blade root: fork-type shank clamping the steel keel, locked with M12 bolts and spring washers; an M30 threaded rod passes through the disc and is clamped by collars above and below, so the mounting angle can be adjusted by loosening the nuts

Safety and acceptance

• Static balancing to ISO 1940-1 G6.3 with a record for every unit
• Centrifugal load check before dispatch: blade centrifugal force about 4 kgf per blade, more than 10x margin against the allowable weld stress
• First-article approval plus in-process checks (cutting / welding / hand lay-up / grinding / painting / balancing)

Lead time 5-7 days per unit, well suited to small-batch custom work and prototypes.
